Eric H. Chudler
 The 2002 ANDP Award for Education in Neuroscience was given to Eric H. Chudler, Ph.D. Dr. Chudler, Research Associate Professor in Anesthesiology at the University of Washington, has created a sweeping web-based neuroscience education resource that is unsurpassed as an educational tool for students of all ages.
Dr. Chudler obtained his B.S. in Psychobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Washington. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the National Institute of Dental Research and two years as an instructor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Dr. Chudler took a research faculty position at the University of Washington, where he has been funded by the NIH to do research in orofacial pain and to develop the web-based "Neuroscience for Kids." He chairs the Committee on Neuroscience Literacy for the Society for Neuroscience and is a member of the Health Literacy Committee of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.
 Originally developed for use
by middle-school students, "Neuroscience for Kids" (http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/neurok.html) is widely used by students and teachers at every level from grade-school to university. The web site is creative and engaging, presenting fun hands-on activities that teach neuroscience basics to the novice and providing up-to-date references to on-line resources for the expert.
