The
membership meets once in the Spring with a two-day program
of speakers and panels addressing various aspects of
neuroscience education and research. The Annual
Spring Meeting is coordinated with the Society for
Neuroscience so that ANDP representatives can participate in
congressional visits. These visits provide an opportunity
for ANDP members to discuss with their senators and
representatives issues regarding support for neuroscience
research and training.
ANDP
maintains a constant dialogue with several federal agencies
which support neuroscience research and training.
Representatives of NIH and the NSF often attend and report
at ANDP meetings, providing updated information about
federal policies and funding opportunities; and this gives
the neuroscience community the opportunity to express its
concerns.

The
Annual
Fall Meeting is held in conjunction with the Annual
Meeting of the Society for Neuroscience. The agenda
includes a reception and the introduction of the new
officers of the ANDP. The ANDP also organizes and
operates a Student Hospitality Suite with the Society for
Neuroscience. The suite gives students attending the
meeting a place to meet and relax with their peers.
Since
1991, the Fall Meeting has included presentation of the Award
for Education in Neuroscience to an individual in
recognition of their outstanding contributions to research,
education and a distinguished career in the neurosciences.
