To view the list of members, select from the menu above. Members of the Association of Neuroscience
Departments and Programs have voting privileges and are listed on the ANDP
website in the membership section.
In addition, a full
description of their program is placed, if desired, in the Directory
of Neuroscience Training
Programs. Neuroscience Program: A formal program at any educational or research facility that includes undergraduate, graduate or postdoctoral trainees with a primary interest in scientific investigation of the nervous system. This may include a variety of administrative structures, including, but not limited to a subsection of a larger department, a separate department, or an interdepartmental program. Undergraduate Program: The undergraduate program category is intended for institutions that are actively involved in undergraduate neuroscience education. This may consist of a formal degree-granting program or major in neuroscience or a degree in another discipline (eg. biology, psychology) with a concentration, or minor in neuroscience. In general member programs provide an array of lecture and lab courses, and often, offer an opportunity for independent research experience. Postdoctoral Program: The postdoctoral training program/institutional category is intended for institutions that are actively involved in formal post-graduate education in neuroscience, even though they may not offer a graduate degree. This membership category is reserved for organizations that provide extensive post-doctoral training opportunities for neuroscientists. Criteria for selection include: 1) evidence of extramural or intramural grant support for the program; 2) a core of funded investigators with documented experience in training graduate and post-doctoral students; 3) a bona fide training program that includes academic activities such as seminar series and graduate or post-graduate courses; 4) defined standards and a review process for admission/entrance to the program. Institutional membership is designed to provide representation for the growing population of neuroscientists who work in environments that offer non-traditional or non-degree training in the field, including NIH, Howard Hughes Institutes, and bio-technology and pharmaceutical research groups. For postdoctoral positions available through individual research grants or program projects, the appropriate listing is the "Research Opportunities" category now available on the ANDP web site. |
