Program Description:  Vision Science is a multidisciplinary field encompassing events from the physical light stimulus through optical, biochemical, biophysical, and neuronal processes to visual perception.

The primary objective of the graduate program in Vision Science is to train individuals who will make contributions to research and teaching in vision science. To meet this objective, the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees require a core curriculum, covering major topics in vision science along with an individual original research project. Although laboratory and research training are emphasized, students also have opportunities to gain teaching experience. In addition to the course offerings, there is a wide range of graduate courses in other departments of the university to support and enhance the program of the individual student. Subsequent to the core curriculum, the program is designed to meet the individual student's needs and career goals.
