Program Description:  The Behavioral Neuroscience Program is one of six areas of graduate training in the Psychology department. The program provides training in neurosciences ranging from cellular and molecular through behavior in animals and humans. Mentor-guided research is emphasized throughout the program: students are normally admitted to work in a specific laboratory, although they may later choose to change labs. Students typically take 3 courses per semester during their first year, tapering off mainly to special topic and professional development seminars only in subsequent years. Students write a Master's thesis, or an equivalency, during their second or third year. A qualifying examination for PhD candidacy, in the candidate's area of specialization, is administered about 1 year after the Master's. Students are required to teach at least one undergraduate class as part of their educational experience. In addition to faculty with primary or joint appointments, UF has many other faculty in neuroscience related areas with whom many of our students and faculty collaborate.

Admission Requirements:  Departmental minima: Undergraduate GPA over 3.0; GRE (V+Q) over 1100.
Undergraduate research experience highly recommended
