Program Description:  The Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience training area provides students with the conceptual and research skills necessary to pursue careers in both the academic and non-academic scientific communities. Students begin participating in laboratory investigations in their first semester and are encouraged to develop independent research projects as soon as possible. Classes are held in small-group settings designed to produce critical thinkers and creative experimenters.

Faculty research strengths include the subdisciplines of developmental behavioral neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, neuroscience of memory, comparative cognition, and neurophysiology.

Admission Requirements:

- GPA above 3.0 
- Undergraduate major in psychology is not required 
- Three letters of reference 
- GRE general test - no minimum scores 
- Statement about background and purpose 
- Foreign students whose native language is not English must take and pass -TOEFL.

Annual Tuition and Fees Costs:  Students who hold assistantships pay in-state tuition, which is $1,524 plus a $48 health fee per semester.

Approximate Cost of Living Per Year:  $7,200

Housing Availability and Costs Per Year:  A variety of campus and community housing options are available (including university family housing); costs, $225-690/month.

Day-Care Facilities Availability and Costs Per Month:  Private child care, parent cooperative day-care, and university affiliated day-care available. Cost is $400 for full-time care.

Stipend/Assistantships and Financial Assistance:  All students have guaranteed funding for 5 years.
