Program Description: In
the fall of the 2000, the Graduate Program of Neurosciences in the Graduate
School of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New
Jersey and the Graduate Program in Behavioral and Neural Sciences at the Center
for Molecular and Behavioral Neurosciences of Rutgers University in Newark
joined to create a single program. The new program is part of the newly created
Graduate Center in Newark and is called "The Rutgers/UMDNJ Integrative
Neuroscience Program" (INS). The INS Graduate Program grants a joint
doctoral degree in Integrative Neuroscience from both UMDNJ and Rutgers. The
graduate program emphasizes the multidisciplinary nature of Neuroscience and
provides a curriculum that stresses the basic tenets and underpinnings of this
modern discipline. The graduate program emphasizes the multidisciplinary
nature of Neuroscience and provides rigorous understanding of basic tenets and
underpinnings of this modern discipline. The program offers specific research
training in Behavioral and Cognitive Neuroscience, Neuroinformatics, Molecular,
Cellular and Systems Neuroscience. The most up-to-date techniques of
neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, neuroendocrinology, neuroimmunology,
neuropharmacology, neurochemistry, molecular neurobiology, psychiatric genetics,
neuropsychology, neuroimaging, computational modeling and behavioral analysis
are available in state-of-the-art research facilities. Research studies can
emphasize either human, animal or computational approaches.
Anyone applying to the UMDNJ or Rutgers M.D./Ph.D. programs will also
