Program Description: Neuroscience is the multidisciplinary study of brain function. It examines the brain's complex and extensively networked anatomical structure, its global biochemistry, the subcellular processes of its individual cellular components, its evolution and development, and its typical and abnormal functioning. Neuroscientists also study the regulation and expression of behavior and the complex interaction of multiple neuronal systems that underlie the emergence of cognitive function. Adaptive neuronal plasticity is a major theme in the neuroscience laboratories in which most Neuroscience majors gain research experience. Course and laboratory work prepare students for advanced training in the Neuroscience in biomedical professions and in industry.
