Program Description:   The 26 members of the multidisciplinary Pharmacology graduate faculty bring a wealth of knowledge and skill to the doctoral program.  The graduate faculty is comprised of scientists from the Pharmacology Department as well as other departments at the Health Science Center (Anesthesiology, Endodontics, Medicine, Psychiatry, and Surgery).  Research activities in the Department of Pharmacology are focused primarily in the area of neuropharmacology with an emphasis on both biogenic amine and amino acid neurotransmitter systems. Investigators use research approaches that incorporate molecular, single cell electrophysiological imaging, neurochemical and behavioral techniques.  Another group of investigators study the central nervous system regulation of autonomic function.

Stipend/Assistantships and Financial Assistance:  $17,000/year stipend with the teaching assistanships.
