Program Description:  The West Virginia University Neuroscience Program is an interdepartmental program offering coursework, research and teaching experience leading to the degrees of Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy. Participating departments are Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Biology and Philosophy. Students ae exposed to neuroscience at the molecular, cellular, system and organism levels, through courses, workshops, seminars, journal clubs and research rotations. All program students receive full tuition waiver and financial aid, mostly in the form of graduate or research assistantships.

Founded in 1867, West Virginia University is the prime institution of higher education in the state of West Virginia, with a combined enrollment of 23,000 students and with over 50 million dollars in sponsored research programs. The Robert C. Byrd Health Science Center provides state-of-the-art health care, education and research. A PET center, the Mary Babb Randolph Cancer Center, and the newly expanded National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health center, provide additional resources.

Morgantown is a growing community that maintains a small-town flavor; a place where the quality of life if high and the cost of living is low. Nestled in the Monongahela River valley in the western Appalachian foothills, this university town hosts diverse sporting and cultural events in an indoor Coliseum, a 63,000-seat stadium (home of the WVU Mountaineers) and in the Creative Arts Center. Its location at the hub of two interstate highways places it within easy access of Pittsburgh or the Baltimore-Washington DC area. A short distance from town one can pursue outdoor activities of exceptional quality and variety, including hiking, cross-country and downhill skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, and world-class white-water rafting.
