Program Description:  Training in Neuroscience at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is provided by ten core faculty members in the departments of Biological Sciences and Psychology and eleven additional program associates representing faculty in Anthropology, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Occupational Therapy, and Psychology. Behavioral neuroscience, neural plasticity, neuroendocrinology, and developmental neurobiology represent areas of research strength. The research approaches adopted by participating faculty range from molecular genetics to systems-level analysis. Fellowships and research assistantships are available from the UWM Graduate School, from individual departments, and from grant funds. Neuroscience courses are cross-listed across departments and opportunities for interdepartmental interactions are extensive. Research collaborations and course offerings at nearby Medical College of Wisconsin and Marquette University provide further training opportunities.

Students receive graduate degrees in the academic department of their major professors, and admission, curriculum and degree requirements vary with the individual departments of participating faculty. Interdisciplinary degree programs specializing in Neuroscience are also possible through participating faculty and the UWM Graduate School.

Admission Requirements:  Admission requirements vary between academic departments. Detailed information is available at the program website: http://www.uwm.edu/Dept/neuroscience
