Program Description:   Target of the graduate school research program is the system-oriented analysis of pathological processes of the nervous system. The graduate school has two main points of research: -molecular-biological and immunological investigations of pathological modifications of the nervous system after inflammations (auto-immune demyelinisation, like multiple sclerosis), tumors, infections and neurodegenerative diseases (dysmyelinisation, like Charcot Marie Tooth neuropathy; transmissible spongioforme encephalopathy, like BSE and Jakob Creutzfeld syndrome) -structural and functional investigations of the central nervous system after lesion, ischaemia and hypoxia.
