Program Description:  Located in Denver, Regis University is a Jesuit university (founded in 1877) offering a liberal arts education. The Neuroscience Program at Regis offers an interdisciplinary major in Neuroscience leading to a Bachelor of Science degree. Students are required to take relevant courses in biology, chemistry, psychology, statistics, and research design. Required neuroscience courses cover topics ranging from genetics, neural development, systemic neurophysiology and neuroanatomy, to the neural basis and clinical relevance of cognitive functions such as language, memory and perception. A key component of the curriculum is a capstone seminar course. Students examine cutting edge topics in neuroscience through critical reading of the neuroscience literature and lectures presented by researchers and clinicians invited from the neuroscience community in the greater Denver and Boulder areas. The major is designed to be flexible enough to prepare students to pursue career goals ranging from clinical (e.g. neuropsychology, medical school, physical therapy) to basic research (e.g., behavioral, molecular, biochemical).

At Regis University experiential learning for undergraduates is emphasized through internships and research opportunities. An "Honors-in-Neuroscience" major adds an independent research component to the major that can help prepare students for graduate and professional schools or for research-oriented laboratory work.  The science faculty has a long and distinguished history of involving undergraduates in research.  These experiences have often led to professional presentations and publications with students as co-authors.
