Program Description: Our program combines strong basic sciences (mathematics, chemistry, biology, physics, and psychology) with specific neuroscience courses such as Introduction to Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Psychopharmacology, Psychobiology of Abnormal Behavior, Developmental Psychobiology, and Hormones and Behavior. We offer many research opportunities culminating in a senior honors thesis in areas including visual system plasticity, neuronal excitability, animal models of schizophrenia, and neural mechanisms of feeding behavior.
Admission requirements: Amherst College does not have specific course requirements for admission, but looks for applicants with the "intellectual talent, mental discipline and imagination that will allow them most fully to benefit from the curriculum and contribute to the life of the college and society."
