Program Description:  Lafayette College offers a challenging, broad-based curriculum with strong programs in the liberal arts, sciences, and engineering. The Behavioral Neuroscience major provides students with an understanding of how the development, organization, and functioning of the nervous system influences behavior and mental processes. From courses in biology, chemistry, and psychology, student examine the nervous system at different levels and explore how human and animal behavior is affected by its activity. Hands-on learning opportunities are emphasized through small laboratory courses and student-directed research experiences. Among the required courses are Neurobiology, Physiological Psychology, Psychopharmacology or Perception, and Advanced Behavioral Neuroscience.

Admission Requirements:  Admission to Lafayette College is highly selective. Receiving more than eight applications annually for each place in the first-year class, the College seeks students who possess both the ability to benefit from a Lafayette education and the capacity to contribute to a rich and varied environment. Factors considered in evaluating each student' application include academic performance in secondary school, class rank, and the quality of courses taken; the candidate's personal character such as motivation, social awareness, ambition, individualism, and potential leadership as exhibited through involvement in community or extracurricular activities. Submission of scores on standardized college admissions tests such as SAT (I & II) or ACT is optional. SAT II test results (English and two other subject areas) are recommended but not required.

How or Where to Apply:  You may use the Common Application or Lafayette's application. The College treats both alike.
